Education:

M.A. City College of New York 2005. Private studies with Jim McNeely. B.M. New England Conservatory 1979. Studies with Thomas Newell, Jaki Byard, George Russell. Private studies with Julius Watkins and Dave Liebman (NEA Study Grant, 1981).

Teaching:

Tom is now adjunct horn instructor at Cornish College of the Arts, http://www.cornish.edu/music/ , and has an active private studio, from 11-year-olds to advanced college-age and adult students, in basic horn technique, classical playing, and jazz studies. He makes it fun and rewarding for students of all ages.

Teaching assistant for Mike Holober's CCNY jazz improvisation class, 2003-2004.

Lecturer/Performer for International Horn Society and college events at: Netherlands Horn Society (1983), Berklee College of Music (1985), Towson State (1985), East Tennessee State (1987), SUNY Potsdam (1988, 1998), New England Brass Conference (1993), West Virginia University (1995), Rutgers University (1998), University of Georgia (1998), University of Wisconsin/Madison (1995/2001), University of Wisconsin/Stevens Point (2001, 2006), Lawrence University (2001), Indiana University (2003), Pacific Lutheran University (2003), Central Washington University (2003), University of Washington (2003/2007), Virginia Tech (2004), James Madison University (2004), SUNY Purchase (2005), University of Oregon (2008/2010), and Cornish College of the Arts (2009). Performed with own group at NY IAJE convention, 2001.

Four articles on Julius Watkins and jazz French horn issues in The Horn Call (journal of the International Horn Society) throughout the 80's and 90's.
